Winter/Spring 2010 Newsletter

In an online article on TheWiseMarketer.com titled Top 12 Loyalty Marketing Trends for 2010, Mark Johnson lists "A keen focus on sustainability" as his second highest ranking for the year. "Customers want to be aligned with socially responsible companies and reward brands that champion the issues they believe in with their purchases and, ultimately, their loyalty. Given customers' confusion over 'greenwashing' and often higher prices for green products, brands that claim to be environmentally responsible need to be authentic and transparent in their marketing efforts in order to achieve true commitment."

At Explore Green, those are exactly the connections we make through solid vetting, research and onsite visits of companies wanting our experts to be engaged with their products or services. Our due diligence has created an unblemished record of positive and verifiable collaborations. Some of those most recent are highlighted in this newsletter.

We have also added two new chapters to our website called "Notes From the Field" under "News" and "Our Collaborations" under "About Us." Take a moment to check them out.

Award-Winning Cheetah Expert Dr. Laurie Marker Honored Again

Cheetah Conservation Fund founder Dr. Laurie Marker has won the prestigious 2010 Tyler Prize for Environmental Achievement in a ceremony in Los Angeles. The $200,000 cash prize and gold medals were shared with Professor Stuart Pimm of Duke University. The Tyler Prize was awarded to Marker and Pimm "for their scientific contributions, their understanding of ecosystems functions, and for their applications of this knowledge to the management and restoration of ecosystems to the benefit of their inhabitants." Marker's many projects in Namibia including using guard dogs for livestock herds to naturally reduce cheetah predation and harvesting invasive brush injurious to cheetahs to be converted into heating logs were cited in the award. Former U.S. Ambassador to Namibia, Jeffrey Bader, nominated Marker calling her "literally and figuratively a force of nature," and praising her work as "the most successful project I have ever seen to protect the world's biodiversity." Dr. Marker also confirmed the existence of cheetahs in Angola despite a three-decade civil war there that threatened the species.
